My name is Ashley Edokpayi, a Washington, D.C. and Maryland native, with Nigerian and Jewish roots. I’m a multimedia journalist always on the hunt for a captivating untold story. I grew up with a constant cultural curiosity and a passion for learning more about people, and an overall love for what makes us all different and essentially the same.
Throughout my life, I’ve always wanted to further explore who I am as well as the world around me, and in 2017 I’ve been presented with the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to do so. I’m currently globe-trotting with an amazing program called Remote Year, where 80 travel-loving professionals (including myself) live in a new city as digital nomads every month for an entire year – spanning across four continents, 10 countries, and 12 unique cities. Insane right?! #wanderlustinglikecrazy.
Our “tramily” (tribe + family = tramily) is called ‘Meraki’, and is full of some of the most diverse and interesting individuals I’ve come across in my lifetime. Sharing this experience with them is a gift in itself, seriously.
This blog, No Place Like Roam, is a space where I will document my experience and share stories, photos and other pieces of this journey while I explore and adapt to each new city.
